While we were in the Scottish Borders we visited the home of Sir Walter Scott, Abbotsford House. The car park and visitor centre were a short walk from the house and the journey to the house is through beautiful gardens. Near Enough: Scottish Borders, Park Up and View

When we were on our little Scottish Borders adventure at Roulotte Retreat we realised that there were a number of places we could visit for free.
